This story begins on October 31st, 2016. If you missed that post about my baby niece’s arrival, you can take a look back at the photos here.Β Β I had to keep Lucy’s newborn session photos a secret until after Christmas, as I made a photobook for my sister of both the birth photos and these newborn photos π She kept asking when I would have them done and I kept having to play dumb because they had been done for weeks. I absolutely LOVE giving gifts to others and since I couldn’t hold out on posting the birth photos (I was too excited to share them!), I wanted atleast part of the photos to be a surprise π
ANYWHO…below are the images of my sister, Lindsey, brother-in-law Mike and sweet niece Lucy to capture the first couple of weeks of what life was like with newborn Lucy π π
I should probably preface this session with the fact that Lucy was quite a fussy baby the first 6 weeks of life. God bless my sister for her patience and love for Lucy <3AH baby feet. I could just kiss them all.day.long!One thing that seemed to help was listening to music. Lucy loves her music! So we had some playing throughout the whole session π(See previous comment about fussy-ness) This is real life photography, folks. Sure, we all would’ve loved to have had Lucy sleeping peacefully or even smiling! But, these are memories that are captured of what those first few weeks were like π
It has been so amazing to watch my big sister become such a natural and wonderful mama πΒ Our sister, Olivia, was unable to meet Lucy until this day when she came home from college for Thanksgiving. She calls her “little nugget” πWe purposely planned for the next shots right after feeding so she was nice and happy π I could not be more excited about how these turned out!THAT HAIR! You guys, it is crazy and wild and she had just had a bath before the session and it still goes crazy. LolΒ The details are my favorite <3 πΒ Auntie loving and chubby chipmunk cheeks πI had to post the image on the left (below). We got laughing so hard about how the headband in the back makes her look like a Ninja Turtle LOLΒ Since they didn’t know the sex of the baby before she was born, the nursery was kept a neutral turquoise and mint colors.Β Mike was on top of the world the first week of Lucy’s life. The birth of his first daughter and the Cubs won the world series for the first time since 1908! This little Cubs teddy bear is named Rizzo ;-)Story behind the photos below: Lindsey and I both had these water bottle stuffed animals as kids (you fill them up with warm water and off to sleep you go!) Lindsey ended up stealing mine eventually as a kid. LOL. She called him “Bear Man”. It was (still is?) her favorite stuffed (?) animal. You may be frightened at the sight of this thing — you see, she loved it SO much that all the fur came off. So much so that my momΒ triedΒ (bless her heart) to sew new fur on it and re-attach it’s eyes. Well, my mom found a NEW Bear Man and gave it to Lindsey at one of her baby showers. Needless to say, there were tears shed and it was beautiful π So here is Lindsey with old and NEW Bear Man for Lucy π πΒ I just LOVE Lucy’s little smile on the photo on the left π π πΒ
Thanks sister for letting me take over your house for a few hours to capture some photos of my sweet Lucy! LOVE YOU ALL!
With love,
Auntie Malmo
